Media assessment learner response

 1) Type up your feedback in full - WWW & EBI. You do not have to write your mark and grade if you don't want to.

Great work Shreyam!

Good use of  Propp's character theory

LR: Revise magazine covers

2) Look at Question 3 in the assessment - the media analysis of the Under Armour advert.

Use CLAMPS to revise mise-en-scene and write about each element of CLAMPS for the Under Armour advert. E.g.:

C - Costume: The player is wearing red and black rugby kit which has connotations of...

L - Lighting: The stadium floodlights tell the audience that under armour is everywhere and dominant as it is placed large and surrounding the player. They are also very bright and represent typical sports floodlights

A - Actor placement and movement: The rugby player is struggling and putting in effort The player's face suggests he is struggling and fighting in a battle

M - Make up: The player's face is shining under the lights which makes it look like he is the centre of the spotlight and the true hero

P - Props: The tyre is significant because it is helping the rugby player train and is almost battling him

S - Setting: the stadium setting suggests to the audience that the player is a real professional who is training

The mark scheme will also help with identifying additional points you could have made in Q3.

3) Look at Question 4. What is Todorov's theory of equilibrium? How does it link to the Audrey Hepburn Galaxy advert?

Equilibrium, Disruption, Recognition Repair the Damage and Equilibrium Again.
This links to the advert as:
Audrey is in a coach travelling like normal
The coach hits a food stall and the driver and the merchant start arguing
A man pulls up by the coach and is seen by Audrey
Audrey sits in the man's car
Audrey continues her journey

4) What social class is Reveal aimed at? (Extension - what do the cover lines on Reveal suggest about what working class people are interested in?)

Middle class/working class people who want to track the lives of their favourite celebrities.

The cover lines shows that the working class are interested in fashion and beauty as they may not be able to afford these luxury items

5) Pick three cover lines from Tatler that reflect upper class British culture and society. Explain what they suggest about the lifestyle and beliefs of upper class British people

The cover line "The one month gap year" appeals to younger and richer university students who are thinking of taking time of to travel. This is aimed at richer and upper class British people who have the money to travel

The cover line "The new posh - rules for the 21st century" appeals to up and coming high class people who want to learn how posh/rich people act

The cover line "MOST INVITED 2017" appeals to socialites who go to many parties and spend lots of time socialising
